Milwaukee to get Midwest & Frontier jobs with Republic move

Frontier moves jobs to Milwaukee and Midwest gets to stay there
Milwaukee beat out Denver and Indianapolis for the new home of Republic Airways which now owns both Midwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines. Milwaukee offered a superior incentive package to Republic which is now going to pave the way for about 800 new jobs for the Milwaukee area as well as preserving about 700 current Midwest jobs located there.
Milwaukee has been home to Midwest Airlines but Denver is losing the Frontier Airlines headquarters and some of the Republic jobs currently at its home in Indianapolis will also move to the midwest city. This move will further cement the integration of the two low-cost airlines and their regional operator parent airline.
Midwest is now flying primarily Embraer jets while Frontier operates Airbus planes. The two carriers are sharing some planes to match capacity with demand as well as to reach desired markets the regional jets can’t. It may be reasonable to assume that a name change is in the works that will officially combine the two carriers to further increase synergies.
