AirTran continues to grow in Milwaukee and adds regional airline partner

AirTran Airways continues its aggressive growth in Milwaukee by adding a new destination with its mainline fleet between Milwaukee and Dallas/Ft. The third quarter had few surprises with the smaller, low-cost centric airlines posting profits, and the bigger guys posting losses.  Some of the losses were smaller than expected, and some were rather large and foreboding.

American to reinstate Dulles to San Juan

American Airlines, seeing a threat from both JetBlue and AirTran, has announced the addition of Washington Dulles flights to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico.  This service used to operate before cutbacks at San Juan for American.  The new service will launch on November 19 and operate daily using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

AirTran increases Florida flights for winter

AirTran adds some Florida winter frequencies

AirTran has announced some increases in service to and from the Sunshine State in time for the cold winter months giving customers greater access to theme parks and beaches.  AirTran Airways currently flies to 10 cities in Florida, and will be increasing frequencies between Orlando and Ft. Myers to Pittsburgh, Chicago-Midway, Boston and Columbus, Ohio.

Midwest Airlines continues to reduce in scope - now eliminating all 717

Midwest Airlines announced that on November 9 it will cease operating the carriers main fleet type – the Boeing 717.  The new owners of Midwest, Republic Airlines, will replace all Boeing 717 flights with either regional jets or shared Airbus jets from their new partner, Frontier Airlines.
