FAA investigates Southwest again

The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed that there is a safety investigation once again at Southwest Airlines.  The investigation is related to a previous issue found at the airline concerning the way safety directives are handled.  Last year Southwest suffered embarrassment as 82 aircraft were found to have unapproved parts.

Southwest Pilots have new 5-year labor contract

Southwest Airlines Pilot’s Association union and Dallas-based Southwest Airlines have announced that the Pilots have approved a new 5-year labor contract that includes pay increases and job protection clauses.

The third quarter had few surprises with the smaller, low-cost centric airlines posting profits, and the bigger guys posting losses.  Some of the losses were smaller than expected, and some were rather large and foreboding.

Southwest continues assault against Frontier in Denver

Southwest Airlines has announced yet another expansion of flights in Denver in their continued assault against Frontier.  Southwest bid to take-over and eliminate Frontier as a competitor earlier this summer, but failed in the attempt.  This expansion is evidence of Southwest’s being upset at the result of that failed attempt.

Southwest Airlines, on the heels of American Airlines reductions in St. Louis, has announced new service there.  Southwest will add nine daily flights to six new destinations from St. Louis.  The new flights will begin in May and will be available for sale sometime this December.
