Continental Airlines to join Star Alliance October 27

Continental Airlines has announed they will be prepared to officially join the Star Alliance on October 27, 2009.  Continental received antitrust immunity from the Department of Transportation in July allowing them to work closely with the Star Alliance partners in pricing, schedules and operations including code-sharing.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) today approved Continental Airlines request to be excused from antitrust laws paving the way for its inception into the Star Alliance.  Not many details were provided yet, and there were only a few small restrictions on certain routes.
